Since Miguel’s visit at least one area must be congratulated for launching their local currency system: Hawke’s Bay e-Dollars http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz/node/270   They were greatly helped in their preparation for this by hosting a presentation by Helen Dew of the Living Economies Educational Trust and purchasing excellent resources, such as Healthy Money, Healthy Planet, by (Transition Towner) Deirdre Kent.

Historically, local currency systems have come to the fore in times of economic stress.  Signs are that we are well on the way toward such a time.
